Severe broken middle finger?

so last weeke i crushed the tip of my middle finger in the crease of the door and the whole nail came off and had a big open woud where the nail is suppose to go. so i rushed to the hospital to get it stitched up. well an hour and a half later they finally stitrched it up, anyway, after they did all taht they wrapped it and put my finger in a splint cuz the tip of the bone broke too. but i want to change the little clothe they put around my finger to stop bleeding, but a lot of blood came out that its like glued to my finger. idk if i should leave it there or try and change it and rinse the dried blood from my finger. it still hurts and i am taking pain killers and antibiotics for infection. what should i do???? it looks gross and looks like there is a lot of dry blood. HELP PLZ idk when my next appointment to see an orthodontist is, my doc is going to notify me by telephone.
